An Iliad in Hillsboro, NM on April 30
The Hillsboro Community Center presents a special performance of the Obie-award winning play An Iliad, written by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare, performed by actor Algernon D'Ammassa and musician Randy Granger. The duo previously presented their original musical drama, Killing Buddha, at the Community Center last fall.
"An Iliad," based on Robert Fagles’s translation of Homer’s epic poem, is a modern retelling of the Trojan War including gods, warriors, their families, and the endless battles of human history with a gripping, contemporary voice. D'Ammassa and Granger play mysterious, homeless storytellers who create the ancient world for an audience using storytelling, a few simple props, and an improvised musical accompaniment on a variety of musical instruments. Theatre Dojo's production debuted in Las Cruces in 2014 and has since toured to cities throughout New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and North Carolina.
The single performance will take place at Hillsboro Community Center, located at 316 Elenore Street, on Sunday, September 11, at 3:00 PM. General admission will be $5.00. Tickets are available at the door only; no advance ticket sales are available. For more information, contact (575) 895-5652.
